Rather than telling students not to drink, James Madison University took a smarter approach. Knowing that students who want to drink will find a way, the school gave students protective strategies on how to drink responsibly.
Mirror decals applied to Freshman dorm bathroom mirrors every Friday at 5 pm reminded students to stay in control as they prepared to head out into the weekend.
Students read these exterior bus signs as they boarded to head out for the evening.
Who could resist? Hundreds of wallets were dropped throughout the JMU campus–on bathroom floors, stairwells, outside common areas and classrooms. Inside: an alcohol prevention message reminding students not to lose control when they drink.
